Suddenly everything became black! A local pulled next to us and asked if we would like to take shelter in his truck, telling us that he heard over the radio that a bad storm is on top of us. We decide to stay with the bikes and keep on riding since we did not wanted to be grounded - a perfect target for a lightning bolt. No need to tell you that it rained so hard, 0 visibility, gusty to probably 80 mph, the next exit seem to be an eternity, I will swear that I probably see at least 5-6 bolts striking right in front of us and when we exited the Sheriff was waiting for us asking us if we are ok, that several funnels tornados had touched down in the area and telling us that we can take shelter in some school. Instead we pulled over at Danny’s restaurant where several patrons were trapped inside. When we came out the sheriff again asked what are we going to do and he escorted us to a nearby hotel/motel that was closed due to the storm. We waited till the storm passed and left this town to the next place we can get a hotel for the night.
